Confidentiality Statement

MAP services are confidential and protected under Maine Revised Statutes Title 14 §164-A (3) unless confidentiality is waived by the affected person. Our services are voluntary and available to all attorneys, judges, Maine Law students, and applicants to the Maine Bar, whether the individual is a Maine State Bar Association member or not. MAP is not affiliated with the Board of Overseers of the Bar or any other professional disciplinary authority. All communications and actions taken by MAP with its clients are held in the strictest confidence. They will not be reported to any other individual or entity outside of MAP, including any professional disciplinary agency, without the client’s permission. The identity of any individual who contacts MAP about a fellow professional will likewise remain confidential and will not be disclosed to the person referred. No information is provided to anyone or any organization without the permission of those involved. If you’re calling because you are concerned for a family member, a colleague, or a friend, no one needs to know about your call. If you are a lawyer seeking help, you can be confident that your contact will be treated in the strictest confidence.
